The particular challenges faced by places on this peninsula lie in the extreme fluctuations in the amounts of wastewater that occur. During the holiday season, the volume of wastewater to be disposed can increase to as much as seven times the usual amount. The ground-water level is also very high, which means that normal gravity sewers are not feasible. This is a case for pressure drainage systems.

Pump technology used for pressure drainage:
1.600 x PKS-B 800 sumps
Pumptype: MulitCut sewage pumps 25 - 75/2 M
Flow rate: Qmax = 17 m³/h (MultiCut 75/2 M) / Delivery head: 48 m
Flow rate: Qmax = 17 m³/h (MultiCut 25/2 M) / Delivery head: 21 m
